how do i stop gambling?
Without gamblers anonymous...I don't like the religious part of it. Is there a good book? Please only respond if you have this addiction. it doesn't really help if you say "find another hobby", if you don't understand this addiciton.

- pick up another addiction, smoking worked for me
- Go to Africa, And look at the poor people. I used to gamble and I started feeling guilty, and greedy. Also Go on A 3 day fast. I'll give Stephen A Vote for that. Good One
- Hire someone to punch u in the face every time u try to gamble.
- Stop going to the place where you gamble at. Find a new hobby?
- it depends on were u gamble if u gamble at school and som1 wants to gamble jst tellem u got no money if u need the money do it but dont gamble money u cant afford.
- Stop making excuses and go to gamblers anonymous.
- They don't always apply the religious side. If you really want to stop, you will join a group. I think your looking for excuses not to stop. Your in denial. JOIN A GROUP. You don't have to always believe what they believe. You will all share the same belief. That gambling makes you feel good. Thats all that matters. Get into a group. They have more in common with you than you think. You won't be able to stop your addiction before stopping judging those who are attempting to stop it. Your an addict. Face it. Excuses, Excuses, Excuses. Gamble that.
- Check out the two links I provided below (Willpower's Not Enough/Sex, Drugs, Gambling & Chocolate: A Workbook for Overcoming Addictions). Both recognize that there are underlying reasons for addiction and focus on lifestyle changes rather than surrendering to a higher power! Do a search on amazon.com ("gambling addiction"). There are many books and you can read reviews to see what resonates with you. These were just two that jumped out at me.
- I have battled the same addiction for over 10 years, what has made me loose the most money at my gambling sessions is when I drink and gamble, alcohol tends to make me feel invincible. Its not an easy addiction to beat, the only ones who will understand you are the ones who have the same problem as you, therefore I recommend you go to G.A. meetings, and its not all about religion, you should try their 12 step program, and if you can have someone you trust manage your finances for you, also works, when you have not direct contact with your money. Good luck buddy, I have lost over 60K in the last 10 years, but dont reminesce in the past, just move on, it will only make you feel worse thinking of all you could have done with what you lost.
