Any new moms who are in recovery?

Any new moms in a 12-Step program such as Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Sex Addicts Anonymous, Alanon, Narcanon, Alateen etc.? If so, how's is going for you? Do you get to many meetings with new baby? Are you able to do servicework? Are people helpful in giving rides to and from meetings, if you need them? Have you ever been asked to leave a closed meeting because of baby? Anything else you'd like to add or share? Shout-outs to homegroups welcome and appreciated, as well as sobriety/recovery dates. My homegroup is the Thursday Noon Brownbaggers Group. I've been clean and sober since January 29, 2006. Connor's Mommy...try Alanon for 90 days. If you don't like it, they'll refund your misery in full. Put half the effort into Alanon that you put into fretting over the alkie in your life, and you'll be golden. We are miracles! Hugs for reintroducing! Kat- that so does count. I don't know the name of the anorexia support group. My family came to my family sessions in rehab and it meant the world to me. Hugs and prayers.

  2. Hi , I;m in recovery and today I went back for the 1st time since July.I had a rough pregnancy which I was hospitalized from jul-sept than twins in hosp from sep-nov.then came home and just couldn't get there girls couldn't go out due to prematurity and RSV and it was to much for hubby to handle {also in recov}.but today was so good I brought one of my daughter w.me and ppl were so willing to help me and told me to bring both of them if I have to they will help.A woman came up to me and offered temp sponsorship and got a commitment all in 1 day.Meetings save my life.I can no longer stay home and be miserable because I'm just setting myself up for failure.I will be sober 1yr on april 18th.I am my most happiest being clean and sober and if I made it through this year w/out a drink or drug I can do anything w/out a drin or drug.Sobrity is the greatest thing. We are truly miracles of God and one day at a time we can accomplish anything:):):)Congrats on belated anniversary.P.S. not pity points lol....
  3. Congratulations to you! My mother-in-law is also in recovery and I know it can be a real struggle. You should be very proud of yourself and happy that you have a cute little baby to remind you everyday why you stay sober. Keep up the great work!
  4. This so much doesn't count, but I do have to attend intervention therapy sessions with my sister who is an in-patient at a hospital for anorexia. So to be silly...I guess this will count as the undereaters anonymous. (sorry I try to remain funny) She has battled this disorder for 18 years. She was since court ordered to go back when she was deemed unable to care for herself and my parents were able to get a court order to take her in. She is 34. She weighs just under 70 lbs. This is a disease that was brought on after she being molested as a child by my mother's father. Nice, huh? Didn't come out until 10 years into therapy. She had no control over her body when he molested her. She can control her body now by what she puts in it. She has control. She is killing herself. Our next meeting is at Mercy Medical Center on Good Friday. ***edit*** don't think they have a name...the Dr.'s come from Sheppard Pratt to Mercy...she will go to Sheppard Pratt when she gets better ***edit*** congrats on continuing to do well, NY.
  5. I'm not in a 12 step program anymore- it's more therapy for tune-ups now. I am in recovery from anorexia with a side of purging. It started when I was 16 and I was in a treatment center for 6 months the first time and 9 months the second- they don't do that anymore. I relapsed 5 years ago? I think. I have been on the mend for over 3 years, but can't give an exact date because- well, it's an ongoing thing. I go back yearly to see my psychologist when I need a "tune-up". Have you been asked to leave a closed meeting? Congrats to you on your recovery!!! That is something to be proud of!
  6. I am in recovery. I am a drug addict. I dont go to meetings. I go to faith meetings.. I tried the NA, AA thing and it wasnt for me.. I take both my kids with me.. I dont agree with alot of the NA aa stuff...
  7. Sorry, I'm not. I just wanted to say Good job to all of you for trying to make a positive step in your lives. I'm sure they are hard steps to take, but keep at it :)
  8. Humph....I'm sure with my home group and sponsor, they would expect me to attend a meeting on the day I gave birth. No excuses for NOT going to a meeting!!! Oh wait, my sponsor would tell me that I need to wait at least a year before I do any major life changes....so that means I wouldn't be allowed to get pregnant (er, I'm sorry, it would be SUGGESTED for me to not get pregnant).
