Right I have decided from the 1st Of December 2007. I am going to quit gambling. I have a gambling addiction?
I am spending to much time and MONEY gambling. I am going to try to go cold turkey and quit as of now. Has anyone got any genuine usefull tips that will help me to beat my gambling addiction. I gamble when I am bored or stressed or depressed. I am fed up of wasting money and having nothing at all to show for my money. You can lose money just so many times and it just stops being fun. Thank you all.

- good luck dude..its hard to tackle these things.......your brave
- Go to a gamblers anonymous meeting and stick with the programme. You need support to get through stuff like this, doing it alone will be so incredibly tough. Well done for deciding this, the only winners in gambling are the sharks who take your bets! http://www.gamblersanonymous.org.uk/
- i wish you luck
- Brilliant I'm glad you have decided to quit gambling it's like giving up smoking its hard but its worth it. just try to distract yourself from going to the machines, if you see a gambling machine or what ever you waste your money on just think its easier to keep your money and feel good about it than wasting it on some fat cat business man who has too much money to start with. just think of what you could buy with that money especially with Christmas coming up.
- consider a roulette table and im the banker! if i want your money i have a 35 out of 36 chance of taking your money FAIR AND SQUARE (lol) if you want my money you have a 1 in 36 chance ... is the latter fair and square??? all games are designed to profit. you might as well swap your £10 notes for £5 notes and you will probibly be better off. if you happen to win one day it probibly will look insignificant to your losses and you WILL end up blowing all your winnings. i liked gambling on slots/bandits coz of the lights and the rush of blood when i had a "near hit". However those machines are huge and how much computer information can you fit on a home p.c. vs the information capability of a slot machine. i wisened up and cut my losses. i may play casino simulation games but i never gamble anymore. its for the best!
- Try online for free games. You still track win losses and it's fun...
- Learn some other games and play them for free. Try chess, gin, cribbage, bridge, spades, hearts, backgammon, etc. You can play against real people on the net for fun (and rankings!) without having to wager a penny. See how high you can get your ranking(s).
- buy an xbox 360 get some good games like gta san andras and complete the game lol at 2 hours a day it would still take 2 or 3 months to complete it 100%
- Many casinos offer the option for "self exclusion" created specifically for gambling addicts (both online and brick and mortar casinos). Sign up for them and you will not be allowed to gamble at your usual digs.
- You know gambling like any addiction is a hard one to break because it's based on routine and repetitious behavior. What you are going to have to do is replace this bad habit with a good one. I commend you on wanting to go cold turkey but sometimes weaning oneself off a bad habit works better. Try that for a few weeks before you quit completely. Here are tools to help you be successful; When you get the urge to gamble....STOP yourself and ask yourself why do you what to gamble(don't stop questioning yourself until you get to the root of the answer), Next try DOING something else think of other fun things you can do to keep your mind busy, also get SUPPORT from friends or family or even support groups(no one has to go through an addiction alone. I commend you for being honest enough to admit you have a problem and being willing to do something to change. You are a winner in my book!!!! Best of luck!
- First thing you need to do is lose you superstitious gambling behavior. If you play the table games then don't worry about people jumping in and out, or in craps, dice going off the table or people putting their hands in the way and stuff like that. These types of beliefs are what send gamblers to think they can have any kind of advantage to win. They leave broke thinking that it was someone else's fault that they lost. Once you learn the true math and odds to every kind of wager, you won't even want to gamble. I used to be the same way until I REALLY educated myself about odds. I still go, but can stop and any given moment and leave and not return for many months or until I can afford it. The 2nd thing you can try is to get another hobby. Maybe play video games or go see movies. Many times people gamble because they just dont know what else to do.
- cool dude. good luck .............
- Don't bring spare money with you...for now so you can't be tempted Cancel all accounts good luck!
