How to tell if someone has a gambling problem?

I think my brother is a gambling addict. He never has any money. He has a great job but gets payday advances every other week. He stays home with my mom and does not help out with bills. We have no idea what he does with his money but he is always a day late and a dollar short. We don't think it's drugs becuase he never looks high or drunk. Every girl he ever meets gives him money and he ends up ruining their credit. What do you think he is battling? And what can we do? He's filing for bankruptcy.
